The Fire You Left Burning
Long have I missed the light, the warmth of a home.
The old man and the caring wife. And here am alone, coming back to what I believed to be far from a dream. And I ask, what am I walking into? What was it that I left behind? Is it even worth knocking on that door? And they told me, “Your coming home to a fire that’s burning down the walls built by hands that never saw kindling ash. Though the flames are gone, a little breath and it ignites. This is what you left behind, you left a burning match next to the tank. But there’s still the ash that holds what you knew to be, your world.”
